Serving as a statewide HR Director for a Fortune 500 company and leading talent strategy across industries, including local governments, school systems, nonprofits, architectural firms, mental health organizations, and small businesses, she has navigated every facet of corporate HR.
Karen is the exact presence you want in rooms during complex mergers. She is the steady hand during high-stakes employee relations escalations, and the architect of total rewards programs that attract and retain top-tier talent. She understands firsthand the intense pressures leaders face because she has lived them.
Today, through Elevate Leadership, Karen and her team step into high-tension environments to unblock paralyzed communication and rebuild outgrown frameworks. By combining her advanced training in organizational leadership (MAEL) with the highest standards of HR strategy and compliance (SCP, SPHR), she doesn’t just put out the fires. She partners with C-suite executives and management teams to transform transitional friction into resilient, high-performing cultures where growth is not just possible – it’s sustainable.
Karen is deeply committed to leadership development and executive coaching, working with individuals and groups to unlock their potential, foster emotional intelligence, and achieve meaningful balance in their lives. She is certified in emotional intelligence 360 assessments and DISC, and is known for her ability to help clients gain self-awareness, set actionable goals, and create lasting change. Beyond the Boardroom
Karen’s natural ability to navigate high-friction environments and mediate complex relationships didn’t just start in the corporate world… it started at home. Growing up as a twin, she learned the art of negotiation, collaboration, and understanding differing perspectives from day one. Being part of a duo taught her early on that true partnership requires empathy, active listening, and sometimes, a little tenacity.
Raised in Virginia, Karen brings a grounded, hard-working ethos to everything she does. She is known by her clients not just for her strategic mind, but for her warmth, her straight-shooting honesty, and her unwavering belief that every person has untapped potential.
She is a proud graduate of Radford University, where she earned her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in elementary and special education, and later completed her master’s degree online at Liberty University, intentionally choosing a program that allowed her to integrate her strong faith with her professional pursuits.
When she isn’t helping executive teams untangle organizational gridlock, you can find her spending time with her family, especially her daughter and her beloved dogs. Karen enjoys crafting, exploring new interests, and is an early-morning fitness enthusiast, avid reader, paddleboarder, and dog lover. Karen’s approach to life and work is grounded in her faith, her commitment to lifelong learning, and the belief – instilled by her parents – that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to, as long as she is helping others along the way.
